This blog’s genesis can be traced to two things: a book called Sex Education Books for Young Adults, 1892-1979 and the discovery of Google Book Search.

Before I explain further, I must reveal a little something about me: I am a book nerd of the highest order. The librarians in the very small town where I spent my formative years knew me on a first-name basis. At this juncture in my life, when I read non-fiction that I particularly enjoy, I raid the bibliography of said book to read further. I also shelf-read via the Library of Congress web page. I have a Google Document that runs to 30 pages plus of books on my list, and that’s just from the beginning of 2007!

I think by now you have grasped what sort of person I am, based solely on that. However, I am not just a book nerd, but I am a snarky, sarcastic book nerd.

To continue. I found the sex education book via another book, perhaps Pink Think by Lynn Peril. At any rate, I noted it down and got it via interlibrary loan. Now, I knew that the original sex education books were probably not telling much to minors in the way of useful information, but the snippets in the book morbidly intrigued me. I decided to hunt them down myself and actually read them for myself.

Enter Google Book Search. That’s where I found most of the books I will share with you. Over time, I have expanded my repertoire to more than sex ed books, but that will probably be the focus for a while. I will share the Google links (or elsewhere, if possible) so that you can check these books out for yourselves, if you so desire. However, I’m giving you the entirety of the books, replete with snarky commentary. If you’ve ever seen/read Television without Pity, I’m kind of like that (hence the title and name of this blog).

Are you ready to delve into ignorance? No? Well, too bad, we’re goin’ anyway!
